I arrived in Cardiff today, only two hours from Oxford by train, and I’m in another country … also part of the UK, but with signposted in Welsh which is as foreign to me as Hungarian. Just finding the elevator and exit from the train station were my first challenge:
To translate from the British, “Lift” is Elevator, and “Way Out” is … er… the way out of the station. I leave you to decipher the Welsh.
I am staying at a charming bed-and-breakfast with all the amenities except wifi, so I found a delightful pub across the road with terrific wifi and a yummy carry and ginger soup, the perfect salve for a scratchy throat. Now as I finish up I’m having a hot toddy, and will soon adjourn back to the B&B for a good night’s sleep. Tomorrow we are meeting at the University of Wales hospital in Cardiff, 10:30 to 2:30, to talk about coordinated care for VHL, BHD, and HLRCC with Dr. Frauke Pelz and her colleagues.
I hope you will be able to join us!
