Dear Fellow Travelers:
It’s been far too long since I have graced these pages with my wit and wisdom.
Perhaps you see a bit of sarcasm in that; I certainly do, for I cannot pretend to have a lot of wit and wisdom, and any grace I have is certainly not mine, it’s someone else’s that I’ve been borrowing.
For the past 15 months or so I have had the privilege of being a co-host on the Powerful Patient Podcasts with an amazing lady, Joyce Graff. Joyce has provided a lot of insight and inspiration, and in the course of those months we have had many conversations with very interesting people. On our last podcast Joyce had scheduled an individual to talk about “girly thoughts”. Joyce sent me a copy of the bio of our guest, but the “girly thoughts” image had already registered in my mind before I opened the bio. My “guy thoughts” (being a moderate redneck from Western North Carolina) superimposed the idea of a women’s libber in my mind.
Joyce, being much more cosmopolitan than I could probably hold a decent conversation with a women’s libber, but I began to have a bit of self-doubt about my ability to remain objective in this scheduled conversation.
Turns out I was wrong. Dr. Patricia O’Gorman, PhD may be a women’s libber, but if so, she is that in order to truly empower women. Fortunately I took some time to visit her website, http://patriciaogorman.com/ to poke around and also to read some of the material posted on her blog: http://thepowerfulwoman.net/.
I immediately became a fan of hers. This woman makes a lot of sense; she has something to say that is worth listening to. For every lady that stands in front of a mirror she says:
you are more beautiful than you think you are! How can I make such a stunning statement without meeting you in person? Because you, like many women, have been brainwashed by something beyond your control, a force so strong yet so insidious that you probably aren’t even aware of it. Yet this powerful force is the reason you focus on all your imperfections. You see defects on your face and flaws with your body, and you feel crappy about yourself as you go through your day. – See more at: http://thepowerfulwoman.net/
Girls (and Guys). Take some time to get acquainted with Dr. O’Gorman… it may be worth your while!

And now, I need to figure out how to deal with a women’s libber… chances are Joyce will book one sooner or later!
Warmest wishes, Mike
