Shannon Carney from Wind River Retreats talks about their forthcoming free retreat for lung cancer patients resident of North Carolina, September 21-23, 2018.

Wind River hold Cancer Wellness Retreats throughout the year for residents of North and South Carolina, emphasizing being physically active and playful, having creative time connecting with others, healthy eating, AND quality time in Nature. “We just ask that you be willing to laugh, learn, and share!”

Their retreats are aimed at men and women currently living with cancer, many with more advanced cancers.

Their next retreats will be announced on their  Facebook page and on their website.

New this fall is a retreat in Raleigh, specifically for people with lung cancer, which will be open only to North Carolina residents.  You can request additional information about this Lung Cancer session at their Contact page, or fill out this application form.

At most other retreats held at Wind River, all cancer types are welcome and the average age of participants is between 29 – 55.

Shannon describes herself: I believe cancer is truly a journey of the mind and heart.  I am forever changed because of the beautiful individuals who have passed through our door and become friends through our Wind River Cancer Wellness Retreats.  Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that the discipline and counseling skills of a lawyer would mix so perfectly with the compassion that comes from being a ten year cancer survivor, and the empathy of being an ordained Minister.  Add on the role of professional negotiator and yoga therapist and you get a wonderful “life smoothie”.

Shannon is a(n): All-Faith Minister, with Alliance of Divine Love, Certified Yoga Therapist with Yoga for the Heart and Restorative Yoga, for people dealing with life-threatening illness, and Attorney, licensed (but nonpracticing) lawyer in North Carolina.

She and her partner Dave Pschirer have assembled an impressive array of instructors in many modalities which complement medical treatment and help heal the whole person.  See their team.

The CD of guided imagery recordings Shannon mentioned is available from  this page.
