June 22 will mark the first World Kidney Cancer Q&A Day – a day where the global kidney cancer community of patients, caregivers, family, health care professionals and patient organizations will raise awareness and funds for kidney cancer.
Kidney cancer is a serious disease that affects hundreds of thousands of people around the world and is resulting in a growing burden and many unanswered questions. The worldwide incidence of kidney cancer is predicted to rise by 22 percent by 2020 and the cause of kidney cancer still remains largely unknown. Treatment varies around the world and too often kidney cancer is forgotten.
Kidney cancer knows no boundaries and medical experts agree there is an opportunity for global collaboration to raise awareness and start answering the questions that will make a difference for kidney cancer patients worldwide.
That’s why, along with the International Kidney Cancer Coalition (ikcc.org), we at Powerful Patient are joining organizations around the world to raise awareness for kidney cancer on June 22. We’re excited to announce that Juliet Ibrahim, a celebrity and humanitarian who gives hope to kidney cancer patients throughout Africa, is the campaign’s Global Ambassador. We hope you will also join our efforts.
World Kidney Cancer Q&A Day: People around the world will be asking questions and seeking answers to raise awareness and funds to help fight kidney cancer!
As part of World Kidney Cancer Q&A Day, we’re launching the Kidney Cancer Q&A Day Quiz. It’s an interactive quiz that tests what people know about important kidney cancer facts. With each quiz that is completed, $5 will be donated to help find answers to vital questions about kidney cancer.
Locally, Powerful Patient is raising money for the Kidney Cancer Program at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. This is one of the two leading Kidney Cancer research programs in the United States. We encourage you to make a donation here
